1st Annual Autism Awareness 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk Autism has become an epidemic affecting 1 in 150 children in the United States and is rising each year. Although there is no known cause or cure, many characteristics associated with autism are successfully treated with proven interventions. Autism is not evident at birth or detected by medical tests. Therefore, it often comes completely unexpected, leaving families with more questions than answers. The early intervention and lifespan resources provided by C.A.R.E. are critical for families in our community. The Center for Autism Resources & Education is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide support, education, and resources to families and professionals in our community who are facing autism. We are committed to raising awareness in our community by establishing partnerships and increasing sensitivity to this rising developmental disability. In recognition of April as National Autism Awareness Month, C.A.R.E. is sponsoring a 5K Run and 1 Mile Family/Friends Fun Walk. 100% of the proceeds from this event will stay right here in our community to support families affected by autism. We hope that you will join us in beautiful Lakewood Ranch, Florida on April 18th where together we will make a difference! |
