C.A.R.E is in the process of seeking grants and donations to continue to provide families in our community who are facing autism or a related disability with resources, support, and education. Our grant-funded pilot programs benefit the professional circle with data and research to support quality programs and cutting-edge interventions. Here is a list of services, which are currently being offered through C.A.R.E: Parent and Professional Resource Library The library is located at the Pinnacle Academy in Lakewood Ranch and is home to hundreds of books, videos, and journals related to autism spectrum and similar disorders. These resources are available to anyone in the community and include such topics as: autism, Asperger’s syndrome, behavior, social skills, communication, assessment, teaching methods & curriculum, diet & nutrition, bio-medical interventions, siblings, diagnosis, parenting, visual supports, speech/language, sensory integration, feeding, toileting, independence, vocation, play, and more! The library is a great resource for all caregivers and professionals in the field. Please call for hours. Workshop Series C.A.R.E. is committed to providing on-going training and education on topics of interest to families and professionals. Topics vary and ideas for topics and speakers are always welcome. See the schedule for details. Out and About This is a pilot program for children ages 7-18, which has been funded by a grant from the Lakewood Ranch Community Foundation. Out and About offers a “living lab” teaching approach to address social-communication and functional skills in the community, while increasing the generalization of skills through caregiver involvement. Integrated Play Groups Coming this summer, this is a peer play program designed for young children to enhance their social-communication and age-appropriate play skills. Each child participant is paired with a typically developing peer partner, who is taught to provide role modeling and guidance.
These
services and programs are all funded through grants and donations from
our generous sponsors in the Sarasota and Manatee communities who
believe that “Together, we CAN make a difference!”. |
